The Cunill Clinic was founded in 1965 by Dr. Josep Lluís Cunill i Amat, but the family history in chiropractic can be traced back even further. Dr. Amadeu Morera i Viladrosa, his brother-in-law, was the second Spanish national to graduate from the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.
1960 was an important year for chiropractic treatment. Dr. Morera started treating one of Europe’s most famous sportsmen: Ladislao Kubala. Football’s leading striker of the time, was then convalescing in Barcelona and as a consequence of the treatment he received he was able to start playing football again. A fact which was in great part due to a result of his sessions with Dr. Morera and which the footballer never failed to mention in a host of newspaper and radio interviews after his return to the game.
Following in the footsteps of his brother-in-law, the third Spanish national to graduate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, was Dr. Josep Lluís Cunill Amat, that was in 1965 and on returning to Barcelona he founded the Cunill Clinic. For many years, Dr. Cunill Amat treated hundreds of patients, including some famous sporting figures. His influence was key in his second son’s decision to follow in his father’s footsteps, Dr. Josep Lluís Cunill Morera, who today is in charge of the Cunill Clinic.
Dr. Josep Lluís Cunill Morera’s course of study, however, saw him travel to California, graduating in 1993 and soon after he joined the Cunill Clinic team, alongside his father.
